Alexander’s Ragtime Band (NR)

1938, 106 min

Alexander's Ragtime Band - Friday, August 24th – 1:00pm & 7:30pm

NR, 106 min

The first movie to play at Wilkes-Barre’s Comerford Theatre when it opened its doors in August 1938. Tyrone Power, Alice Faye, and Don Ameche are caught in a love triangle in this musical based on a fictionalized account of the history of jazz. Chock-full of wonderful songs by famed composer Irving Berlin, including such standards as “Easter Parade,” “Blue Skies,” “A Pretty Girl is Like a Melody,” and, of course, the title song.  ("Come on and hear…come on and hear…Alexander’s ragtime band!”)
