School Group Student Tours The F. M. Kirby Center is pleased to provide tours of the theater to student groups free of charge. From top to bottom, students will enjoy seeing how the Kirby Center runs behind the scenes, and learn some history about our building, the original Comerford Movie Theater.
The hour tour includes a trip up to the projection room where students learn how films are loaded onto reels and projected onto the screen located on the stage and see how the two spot lights that capture the star on stage work.
They also will visit the supporting cast's and the star's dressing rooms where the famous, like Bill Cosby, Tom Jones, Diana Ross, Michael Bolton, David Canary, Wayne Newton, Don Rickles, Joan Rivers, Susan Lucci and Regis Philbin, Gordon Lightfoot, Clay Aiken, Drew Cary, Garrison Keillor, George Carlin, Jon Stewart, Smokey Robinson, Nick Lachey, Natalie Cole, Olivia Newton-John, and Ellen DeGeneres, (just to name a few) all enjoyed some quiet time before they hit the stage! A look into the orchestra pit and then it's up onto the stage to put some theatrical vocabulary into action and find out how some things are done - like flying scenery in and out and how shows get loaded in and out.
