with Tigers Jaw, AJR and SYML
Alt 92.1 will present the inaugural Snow Show 2018 featuring Dashboard Confessional with Tigers Jaw, AJR, and SYML on Sunday, January 28 beginning at 6:15 p.m. at the F.M. Kirby Center.
Propelled by Chris Carrabba’s intimate and emotionally raw lyrics, sweeping acoustics, and his charismatic presence, Dashboard Confessional stands as one of the biggest alternative bands of the 2000s. Critically acclaimed and embraced by a legion of fans, Dashboard’s brand of alternative rock swept through a generation who embraced their albums and sold out arenas.
To date, Dashboard Confessional has a platinum album with their live release MTV Unplugged, three RIAA certified gold-selling albums (Swiss Army Romance, The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most, A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar), and has had numerous songs featured on TV (Cougar Town, One Tree Hill, Scrubs, All My Children, Laguna Beach, NCIS, Cold Case, Clone High) and in movies (Shrek 2, Spider-Man 2,Made of Honor, Sydney White).
Formed in Scranton, PA in 2005, indie rock band Tigers Jaw have always been known for their incredibly relatable lyrics. After many band member changes, their fifth full-length album, spin, is the first collection of songs that was completely written and recorded solely by Ben Walsh (vocals, guitar) and Brianna Collins (vocals, keyboards). spin was released in May through Atlantic Records’ new label Black Cement. Tigers Jaw has toured with many alternative bands including, New Found Glory, Yellowcard, Manchester Orchestra and the Menzingers.
There is no band, no song, no video, no sound that is more “now” than AJR. The band — three brothers born and raised in New York City — has achieved a startling quick level of success with “I’m Ready,” a buoyant electro-pop single that’s taking off on social media with over 10 Million views on YouTube, Gold record in the USA and Double Platinum Internationally, features in Billboard and on MTV. They have also performed on the Today Show, X-Factor, Kelly and Michael and many other national television shows.
From his basement recording studio in the small town of Issaquah, WA outside Seattle, Brian Fennell, frontman for the band Barcelona, wrote and recorded a collection of songs under the name Syml, which means simple in Welsh. Adopted and not knowing his history or connection to his Welsh roots, many of these songs were influenced by the complex feelings that come from unknown lineage. His Hurt for Me EP was released in 2016.
