Acclaimed singer-songwriter Conor Oberst will bring a full-band performance featuring members of The Felice Brothers to the F.M. Kirby Center on Thursday, July 27 at 8:00 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased at the Kirby Center Box Office, by phone at (570) 826-1100 and online at www.kirbycenter.org.
Conor Oberst joined his first band at the age of 13 and has been releasing music since 1993. Over the next two-plus decades, he has released cassette-only recordings, split 7-inches, and a dozen albums of uncommon insight, detail, and political awareness with his band Bright Eyes, as a solo artist, as a member of Desaparecidos, as leader of The Mystic Valley Band, and with the Monsters of Folk super-group.
Oberst is currently touring in support of his 2016 stripped-down solo album, Ruminations, and his 2017 follow-up, Salutations. Pitchfork called Ruminations “a record like none other in Oberst’s catalog, stunning for how utterly alone he sounds.” Salutations, which was met with similar acclaim, features full-band versions of the ten songs from Ruminations, plus seven additional tracks.
Whether he is recording or performing, and whether he’s solo or with a band, the one constant for Conor Oberst throughout the years has been music.
“I have always believed there’s salvation through music and love. At least for me,” Oberst said. “It’s gotten me through the worst of things. But I want it to be that way for the people who listen to it, too.”
Oberst will bring all of that music and love to Wilkes-Barre on July 27.
Philadelphia-based, Hop Along will support Conor Oberst as opening act.
Conor Oberst has partnered with Plus1 so that $1 from every ticket sold will go to support Planned Parenthood and their work delivering vital reproductive health care, sex education, and information to millions of women, men, and young people in the US and worldwide.
