celebrating three groups from the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame
Joe Nardone brings another of his popular Doo Wop concerts to the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts. A Doo Wop Celebration features great acts representing the best of a memorable era that will not be forgotten and celebrates three groups from the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame! This star-studded, nostalgic line-up of your old-time favorites includes Herb Reed's Platters, The Flamingos featuring Terry Johnsson, Frankie Lymon's Legendary Teenagers and the Cameos.
Herb Reed's Platters were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. One of the most successful vocal groups of the early Doo Wop and Rock and Roll era, the Platters had 40 charting singles on Billboard's Hot 100 between 1955-1967.
The Flamingos featuring Terry Johnson were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. Billboard magazine wrote, "Universally hailed as one of the finest and most influential vocal groups in pop music history." The Flamingos defined Doo Wop at its most elegant and sophisticated. Songs: International #1 "I Only Have Eyes for You"
Frankie Lymon's legendary Teenagers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993. Most noted for being one of Doo Wop's earliest successes, the Teenagers carry on the tradition of the late Frankie Lymon. Songs: many charted hits including number one in the nation, "Why Do Fools Fall in Love."
The Cameos are New Jersey's favorite Doo Wop group. A talented 8 piece vocal group, they create and perform unique renditions of classic Doo Wop songs. They are sure to leave you with a lasting memory of your favorite songs.
