Willie Nelson & Family

Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real

The Redheaded Stranger is no stranger to Wilkes-Barre.

With six concerts already under his cowboy belt (all sellouts), it was announced today that Willie Nelson will return to the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts for a seventh performance on Thursday, September 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets go on sale next Friday, June 20th at 10:00 a.m. and can be purchased at the Kirby Center Box Office, by phone at (570) 826-1100 and online at www.kirbycenter.org. A special Kirby Members Pre-Sale will begin Wednesday, June 18th at 10:00 a.m. Members buy first, so join today at (570) 823-4599, ext. 225.

Backed by his longtime touring and recording “Family,” Nelson is on the road again, this time in support of his 69th studio album, Band of Brothers, which is due out in August.

With a six-decade career and more than 200 total albums already in the rearview mirror, Nelson has earned every conceivable award as a musician, and has amassed reputable credentials as an author, actor and activist.

He is the creative genius behind the historic recordings of “Crazy,” “Red Headed Stranger,” “Stardust” and countless others, and at the age of 81, the iconic Texan shows no signs of slowing down.

Earlier this year, Nelson was inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame, and later that week, he became a fifth-degree black belt in the martial art of Gong Kwon Yu Sul.

In 2012 he reached The New York Times Best Sellers list with his book, Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die. His song by the same title was released earlier that year, featuring a guest appearance by rapper Snoop Dogg.

Nelson first appeared on the F.M. Kirby Center stage in August of 1988. His most-recent visit came in May of 2012.

Tickets Prices: $47.00, $57.00, $67.00, $97.00  plus applicable fees

There will be an extra family member on hand when Willie Nelson & Family visit the F.M. Kirby Center.

It was announced today that Lukas Nelson, Willie’s Son, and his band Promise of the Real have been added to the concert, which comes to Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, September 11th at 7:30 p.m.

Lukas first picked up the guitar at age 11 to honor a promise he made to his father and managed teach himself the craft by playing along to classic Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimi Hendrix songs.

Now at age 24, Lukas is building his following the old fashioned way - by touring year-round and delivering high-energy performances to fans across the country.  He and his band mates have performed more than 400 shows in the past three years and have played with the likes of Neil Young, John Fogerty, Bob Weir, B.B. King and Bob Dylan.

While the younger Nelson will be making his Kirby Center debut, his father will be returning for the seventh time.  Willie Nelson first visited the Kirby Center in 1998.  His most recent performance came in 2012.
